Delayed Baggage

Delayed and/or lost baggage should be reported to a Calm Air Customer Service agent immediately upon arrival (passengers have 21 days to submit their claim after the date the baggage was supposed to arrive).??

An agent will assist the passenger with completing a Lost/Delayed baggage report, will begin a search, and will provide updates to the passenger on the status of the search as per their preferred method of contact provided on the report. Overnight toiletry kits may be available for those passengers who are away from home and do not have such items included in their carry-on baggage.

As excess baggage items are accepted subject to availability of space and weight, Calm Air assumes no liability for a delay in the arrival of these items. If free-allowance baggage is not located within 24 hours of flight arrival and assistance is requested, Calm Air will reimburse the passenger $75.00 per day to a maximum of $375.00 for the purchase of required personal items upon submission of receipts. Any such reimbursement will be considered and included as part or all of Calm Air’s maximum liability for lost or damaged baggage. Calm Air’s maximum liability for lost or damaged baggage is $2,100.00 CAD per person, per incident upon submission of receipts.

Damaged Baggage

It is recommended that passengers report any damage to their baggage to a Calm Air Customer Service agent immediately upon arrival (passengers have 7 days to submit their claim after the baggage is received).?

An agent will assist the passenger with completing a Damaged Baggage report, will need to assess the damaged bag and will forward the report immediately to Management for review.?

Calm Air’s maximum liability for damaged baggage is $2,100.00 CAD per passenger.? Please note that Calm Air will not compensate for the following:

  • Damage to zippers, scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, missing straps, feet, clips and exterior tube handles, or similar damage attributable to normal wear and tear;
  • Damage resulting from spillage of stored items in your or another passenger’s baggage;
  • Damage resulting from manufacturing defects of the bag;
  • Damage resulting from a bag being over-packed or overweight will not be covered;
  • Damage to other types of containers such as plastic bins, tubs, or similar articles.
  • Spoilage of any perishable items.

Calm Air assumes no liability for unsuitable packed fragile items, valuable or perishable items including but not limited to money, credit cards, jewelry, cameras, video and electronic equipment, cellular telephones, computers, chinaware/ceramics/pottery, glass, silverware, negotiable papers, business documents, manuscripts, samples, prescription drugs, liquids, food and other perishables, musical instruments and equipment, sporting goods and trophies, paper (including photographs, negatives, historical documents, maps), antiques, paintings, furs or similar items.
